Decking and Framing Octogon Ceiling

Mike completed the framework for the
screened porch, entry and the first
two sections of the octogon deck.

Fred and I got pretty good at nailing
in joist holders.

Mark and Richie are working on the
framing of the living room ceiling.

They also put up sheathing around the two
large windows and the sliding glass door.

Now all they have to do is sheath around
the upper windows. What a view!

Sheathing the Octogon

More sheathing going up!

And wrapping the octogon in Tyvek.

All the sheathing is done now. You can see
the windows and fireplace opening now.

All the sheathing is up now! I love the way
the sun streams in the windows!

The Tyvek is almost all the way around.

Framing the Lighting Cove

Here they are framing the lighting cove that will
surround the entire octogon and will provide
indirect lighting in the living room and dining room.

This is a little closer view the permits you to
see more clearly what I mean by a
lighting cove.

In this close-up view, you can actually see
the shape of the cove.

Really looks like a house now, huh?

What's the next step? Electricity!
Here you can see where I marked the location of each switch, outlet and lighting fixture in
preparation for mounting the boxes and running the wires.
